I'll be putting three or four animals in my shop tomorrow, Saturday, December 1st at 2pm est. Things are coming along nicely getting ready for the Bazaar Bizarre, so I'm happy I can do this! This will be my last shop update until December 16th, since all the other animals will be going to Boston next Sunday.

I awoke yesterday morning to such a beautiful view out the window! We already have an amazing view of Mt. Tom from our third floor apartment, but the snow flakes yesterday were so big and white and perfect. Of course all traces of snow are gone today; it's just wet and very foggy. But it made me excited about decorating the house with paper snowflakes and little ornaments, and to bake cinnamon things and knit. Actually, I began crocheting a blanket. I haven't crocheted in quite some time. But, wow! It's so much faster than knitting! How could I forget that?!
This snowy picture was my view yesterday morning when I first got to the studio. Yes, not much snow at all - you can still see the blades of grass. And it had already stopped snowing at this point, but it was exciting anyways! I can't wait until the first really big snow that will pile up against the glass.
So, I'm sorry to have disappeared from the world wide web this past week. I have been staying off the computer as much as possible (because it always sucks me in for much much longer than I ever intend) and I had work to do! Then we had some friends visit for a big, vegan, pre-thanksgiving, thanksgiving dinner. It was sooo good! And it felt great to allow myself a couple days off while they were here. I usually come into the studio to work at least a few hours everyday of the week - the break was much needed!
I'm still more unprepared for the craft fair than I would like to be, but at this point I just figure I will do what I can. I have lots of patterns cut, and some bodies sewn, some stuffed, but lots and lots to complete.
I have decided that I will be making a shop update this Sunday at 4pm est. This will be my last Etsy update until after the fair on December 9th. This way I will have two full weeks before to devote completely to the fair. I will really need that time. I want to bring around fifty animals. (I don't have ANY totally finished for it yet! Yikes!!)
So come to the Boston Bazaar Bizarre!! I loved it last year, and I think the line up for this one looks even better! I'm really excited!
I think I will be able to make one or two more shop updates after the fair, and before Christmas, so if you can't make it out, maybe I'll see you in the shop. Plus, as I said before, I will list any animals that don't sell at the BBB, so, who knows, maybe there'll be a lot. Or maybe I will have tons of sewing to do even after it's over!
Oh! How could I almost forget! I made a new animal last week! He's furry and has little hooves! I'll be making at least one more of these for the shop update this Sunday.
I'll post pictures of the other animals that will be available on either Friday or Saturday.

I just started a new Flickr Group called My Fern Animal! I was thinking about how I have lots of pictures of my little animals, but then there are so many that I never photographed. This is so sad! Most of the ones I don't have pictures of are the very early ones, simliar in design to the ones pictured above (which are the first three I ever made), and many that were sold at craft fairs.
Then I thought, why not create a space where people who own a Fern Animal can add their own pictures?!
Please add any and all images you may have of your little one(s) in their new happy home, and please please spread the word!

I am finally feeling pretty settled into my studio! This is my new little corner. It feels really good working in it.
Here's a picture of my new view:
I have traded in my second floor view of the parking lot for the ground-level view of the moat. Yes, there is a moat around the Eastworks building, a concrete wall, and a floor of green grass. I think it was a great trade!
Here are some of the animals I will be posting in my shop tomorrow. I will also be working on some ornaments tonight...we'll see how many I can get finished!

I think I will not be updating my shop at all next week. The Boston Bazaar Bizarre is coming up VERY fast (December 9th!) and I haven't even started preparing!! I will be spending all of next week making little animals in an attempt to stock up for the fair. But, don't worry, I will be posting again the following week.
Plus, anything that doesn't sell at the fair will be in my shop shortly after.

I came into the studio today with the plan to get so much accomplished that no one would believed I had done it all in one day....
Instead, I spent some time on the computer, sent a couple packages out, made a little drawing (a sketch of a new friend!) and then spent a very long long time making a fox. Yes, a fox! I am not so sure I am totally happy with him yet, I mean, of course I am happy with him! I love him! But I think the pattern needs a little tweaking.
Either way, a new animal was born today! A Fern Fox!
In other news, I am feeling pretty motivated that I will get tons done tomorrow (we'll see!) and I will be making a shop update on Sunday November 11th, at 4pm est. I think this new fox will be there, or maybe a second version, maybe both, and a few others. I'll post some pictures of the others in a couple days, once I make some.
Okay, back to work!

I always seem to have these high expectations for myself ("I can make three more animals, and move into a new studio, and paint the walls, and put up shelves, and reorganize my stuff to I can actually find what I need to make the animals...all by Sunday afternoon...", but it's just silly because there is just not enough time in a day.
So, I am sad to say that I will only be posting three animals today. But, for those of you who may have been excited about the weekend post, don't worry! I will be posting on the weekend again, next time with more notice, and more animals to offer. Maybe even next weekend. I haven't decided yet. I need to see how much I can get done today. We're still painting the walls, and my stuff is in piles.
But, none-the-less, please visit my shop today, Sunday November 4th, at 4pm est. There will be a few cute little ones waiting patiently for a nice new home.

I'm sorry! I will not be able to update my shop today at 4pm, as previously decided. I have only had time enough to make two fawns, and instead of making such a tiny update, I will be updating this Sunday November 4th at 4pm est. I hope this also helps for those of you who cannot get on the computer at 4 on weekdays.
I'm moving my studio today (which is why I am feeling a bit crazy - moving again!! - and haven't had enough time to sew). I have been packing things up. I'm not moving too far, just down a couple floors to the basement, but it's a new studio that's more of my own, and far more permanent. I am going to spend the rest of today moving stuff in, putting up shelves, and attempting to get organized. I'll put up some pictures of my new space once I get settled in. I'm so excited!!
I have also been working on some new holiday cards this week (the picture above). I sent the image out a couple days ago to be printed, and I have been very anxiously waiting for them to be delivered. I think I'll have some in my shop next week.
These two new fawns will be amongst others for the Sunday shop update. I think I will try to photograph them for another card image tomorrow. I love them, and their matching outfits!
