Ending date for the Glowing Auction:
I just found out today that, when setting up the listing on Ebay, Velle made a mistake, causing the auction to close at 10pm EST on the 25th, not the 24th. If you have been checking out the auction, you may have noticed this. The auction was set up as a five day listing, but it should have been four days. Oops! I was looking forward to finding out who the winner and new owner of this special animal would be tonight, but, alas, we all need to wait patiently for one more day. Well, the good news is that now everyone has another day to put in their bid! The auction closes 10 PM EST Tuesday March 25th.
I'm not sure yet when Glowing Animal No.2 of the small edition will be available. We're working on that now. We have been thinking about releasing it in about three months, but if I get into the Renegade Craft Fair again (fingers crossed!) then this summer may prove to be too crazy with all-night sewing parties to spend the necessary hours lovingly embroidering another Glowing Animal. It may happen early fall. I will keep you posted.
Also, my next Etsy Shop update will be this Friday, March 28th at 4 pm EST. Sorry to anyone who came to the update last Friday and had to deal with the crazy state Etsy was in! It was so hard to get everything posted on time! I kept having to refresh and my pages kept showing up blank. Completely blank and white. Still, considering I have been relying on Etsy to work properly for the past 10 months, and I haven't had any major problems like this before, I am not going to complain. I love all that Etsy does!
I haven't actually made any animals for my next post yet, so I don't have any photos to show. But I will soon! I promise! (Tomorrow maybe?)
Until then, check out the auction! Tell me what you think! This is my first Fern Animals endeavor collaborating with someone else, and, I will admit, it has been tricky. I am used to hanging out in my studio every day, sewing the animals, photographing them, listing them, packaging them, and shipping them out, all on my own. I do every little job myself, and I feel so out of control not doing any of those things with this project, besides making the actual animal, that is.
Plus, Ebay is foreign territory. I mean, of course I have bought a few vintage items from Ebay, but I have never sold anything. And it's a completely different and new experience having someone else list a Fern Animal and I can't even see who's looking at it, who's bidding. It actually reminds me of when I first came to Etsy. I used to list and sell my Fern Animals through an online store that I built on my website. But I didn't have Pay Pal, so when someone wanted to purchase something, they emailed me, then I emailed back, and they mailed me a check, and I mailed them their new little friend. There was so much correspondence. Etsy and Pay Pal made selling much faster and far more convienent, but initially, losing that correspondence was strange and a bit uncomfortable. I still wish I could personally get to know each and every one of my customers. I do feel like I have built small friendships with many people, but I guess there just wouldn't be enough hours in the day to get to know everyone. There are a lot of Fern Animals out in the world now! Hundreds! I can't really even believe it!
Here's a custom order I just finished. Caroline Gaedechens requested it as a trade for this amazing Plush Monster. It's eyes and teeth glow in the dark! He lives on my window sill now and I get to look at him every day! (I'll add a picture of him in my home soon - he's cute!) Caroline creates such wonderful work! I love all that she makes! My boyfriend framed this print for me for Christmas and I think it is so beautiful. I feel so inspired when I look at her drawings.
Well, there are a lot of links in this post. But, yes, please check out the Glowing Animal auction, and Caroline Gaedechens' work, and come back here later this week to see the new animals that will be available in my shop on Friday. Good night!
