Although my week has been a bit consumed with visiting family, and preparing for the Glowing Exclusive release, I have been able to get a few new animals made for a shop post tomorrow.
It's been quite rainy, gray and gloomy these past few days, and all I've been wanting to do is stay at home with my cuddly cat and watch movies... but I dragged myself to the studio every day and have been sewing sewing sewing. I hung this quilt (that I started making years ago but haven't worked on in far too long) in the window to add some bright light. Though it is blocking the window, it actually makes me feel better than to look out and see a gray concrete wall and soggy wet ground.
I started this week by cutting out piles and piles of patterns, stacked according to color. It feels good to have so many already cut and ready to be sewn up now. I'm attempting to get ahead a bit, though it never proves very successful. I would love it if maybe my shop could have animals sitting in it sometimes, so customers can go in and browse and have lots to choose from, but I just can't make these little ones fast enough.
Now, although last summer I told myself out loud, many times, that I would not apply to the Renegade Craft Fair this summer if they held it in the McCarren Park Pool again, but, alas, I applied. I couldn't help myself. I love going to craft fairs, and meeting people that love my animals as much as I do, and getting to meet other crafters, people I have been corresponding with but have never met in person. It feels so good. It's just the prep work that is the worst part. I always end up waiting until a couple weeks prior to the fair to really start preparing, causing those few weeks to be packed with very long, back aching, stressful days. This time, I am preparing months in advance! Or at least that is the plan. The hardest part is making animals, and setting them aside. It's so hard to not post them in my Etsy shop! Every time I make a new animal, I want to share it immediately, but not this time. No. I am going to stock up gradually, and attempt to stay stress-free! (I'm obviously hoping that by writing all this here, maybe it will help me to stick to the plan!)
Anyways... tomorrow I will have a few new animals in my shop. I have these three made so far, but still have the rest of today and part of tomorrow to make more. I am aiming for eight. I'll post more photos as I finish them.
Next shop post: Friday March 21st at 4pm EST.
See you then! (And don't forget about the auction tonight!) Bye!
So, although our new living situation is a little weird, and awkward and messy and up in the air (yes, all of those things, and more), I have begun settling into my new shared studio, and I LOVE it! It is absolutely beautiful, and so spacious. I'll post more about it, along with some more pictures, after I have it all set up.
Either way, I am super excited about this place, and "the valley" in general. Turns out Easthampton is really the place for us to be right now. Things are quickly falling into place...
