Shop update Thursday Oct. 25 4pm

I have to be away from my studio tomorrow afternoon. Instead of moving the shop update to the morning, when some may miss it, I am moving it to Thursday at 4pm. I'm sorry about this. I am trying to hold on to some consistency, but I think my updates may continue to fall on Thursdays from now on. I'll have more details next week.

Also, I was away all weekend working on a top secret Fern Animal project (!), so I am afraid I won't have much to post in the shop this week - only about three or four animals and various ornaments. Next week I will get back on schedule!

I have recieved a few emails from people saying that they are afraid they'll never get an animal because they are at work during my 4pm updates. I was just wondering: would weekend updates be better? Or Friday evenings? I'm not sure at this point if that would even work for me, but I am curious what others think. Maybe Sunday afternoons? Hmmm... Let me know what you think...

Color coordinated

I just finished up a new batch of little ones to add to my shop tomorrow, and I noticed a habit I seem to keep falling into. Each time I make four or more animals over the course of a few days, the colors seem to be coordinated. This week they are all blues and yellows and greys. Last week it was blues and pinks. If you scroll down, you'll see pictures of another batch: deep natural tones, with a burst of yellow. I like finding these little tendencies, picking through my fabrics, and always coming up with the same favorites.

Needless to say, there will be a shop update tomorrow! Sorry to those of you who visited my shop last week after I posted, only to find the shop empty! I only had five animals to post last Wednesday, and they were spoken for very very quickly (thank you!!). This week I will have about six animals, along with more animal head ornaments, and a new little white ornament.

I also just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of you who have been super supportive, and patient, and just so nice. I really appreciate all of your comments, and feedback. I'm sorry if anyone got the wrong impression about that from my last post - I never meant that I don't want people emailing me anymore! That's one of the best things about the internet! - being able to be so connected, and meet new people and share things about yourself, and your day, and your likes and dislikes. I look forward to checking my email and comments everyday. I think I just want to be honest on here; I don't want to only show pictures of my studio after I spent the day cleaning it, you know? I want to share the messy stuff, too, and the past couple of weeks were messy! But I've got it together now, and I want to make sure that everyone reading this understands just how much I appreciate each and everyone one of you. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for all the great positive feedback I recieve everyday.

ready and waiting for snow

Last week I moved into a new apartment - again (I just moved September first!). It kinda took a lot out of me, and I wasn't able to get into the studio at all. It felt like a horribly unproductive week.

But, I made some new little ones this week! I'll be posting these three and a couple others in my shop tomorrow at 4pm EST.

In case any of you haven't yet noticed, I posted in my shop that I cannot not take on any commission orders, and I can't consign or sell wholesale at this time. It's just me here, and, although this is now my full time job, I simply cannot sew fast enough.

Also, I know I have stated previously that I always welcome suggestions of animals you would like to see me make next, but I would appreciate it if I didn't get too many of these requests at the moment either. It has begun to stress me out a bit, and I just can't have that. Making these little ones needs to remain fun for me, and this is one way I can think of doing that right now.

So, since I have made quite a variety of animals over the past couple of years, and tend to get caught up on only one style at a time, I will be trying to set myself on a schedule. I will be posting new animals at least once a week - probably only once a week, and I will post here the night before to let everyone know what to expect. I am thinking I will end up making a batch of bearded animals one week, a batch of fawns another, a batch with antlers the next, and so on and so on. I think this will be the best way for me to be productive, without feeling too much pressure. (There are quite a few people at this point emailing special requests, and it has become a bit overwhelming!)
